Vlogs for Organic Farming

I've been quiet for a year, having missed writing on my blog about organic farming. But my absence  doesn't mean that I didn't maintain posting on its Facebook Page the whole year round.

Years 2017 and 2018 gave  me  so much opportunities as I joined as radio host over DWJR 96.1 Farm Radio. I was able to extend my advocacy on organic farming, discussing news and updates on the use of organic materials to enhance backyard gardening and farming without harming the environment.

I've been able to use the social media in order to reach out with larger audiences online via FB Live. By the way the title of my radio show is Marhay Na Aga, Parauma! , a Bicol radio program on farming (covering topics in agriculture, news and trivias).

I received invitation to become speaker with the farmers. And even college students who are studying about organic farming. Unfortunately, my budget hampered my desire to reach out with them.

It was September 2017 when I received a call from the production staff of Pangga Ruth Abao , who transferred to DWIZ AM radio in Metro Manila. The staff said that the lady announcer got impressed of my FB Page and I was off for an interview. WOW! A phone interview happened in a jiffy!

I was able to interview local farmers in Naga City, Bicol during their exhibit in 2018.

Scene: @ SM-Naga City Metro Naga Development Council (MNDC )@ 25 last Spr.24,2018 wherein LGU members participated by showing their services and products through a trade fair. LGU-Naga participants promoted Organic Farming as they sell their produce (fresh vegetables, fruits and packaged products).

Meanwhile, back in 2017, I was able to reach out with the captive audience through FB Live. Here's the sample of my radio show, Marhay na Aga Parauma over at 96.1 DWJR Farm Radio. Thanks to the power couple, Vicente (Vic) and Sherlita ( Shirley) David for giving me airtime during weekend for the said program.

Unfortunately, my stint on the radio was shortlived due to the upcoming mid-term elections because by airtime was sold to a local political candidate. Well, that's management's prerogative. I don't have any hurt feelings over them, since they want to earn money for the radio station.

Planting Season This January 2016

At the start of the year, my passion in planting intensifies as I received lots of seeds to plant both in our front yard and backyard.

I just have to sort out which seeds are best suited in front or at the back of our home.

My strategy will be double-purpose, so they say. Those plants that are vine-climbing will also serve as curtains or drapes on the fence at the front, where it is also vulnerable to stray animals, like goats.

I already have coconut trees and bananas at our backyard, so, those plants needing less sunshine will be suited there.

Anyways, I am hopeful that my Phase 1 of planting spree will be achieved  as some seeds will never germinate if kept for a long time (let's say, a month or two) inside the drawer of my cabinet.

The options in Organic Farming are endless. At lot of possibilities. It's up to us to give back to Mother Nature and thank the Lord Almighty for providing us food through these seeds.

PHASE 1 of my SOWING SPREE includes: Singkamas, Sigarilyas, Saffron, Okra& Mongo.

In a span of two months, since September 2015, my Facebook Page on Organic Farming in the Philippines gained a lot of readership and followers.

I shared interesting topics and discovered new things regarding organic farming in return, as I continue widening my scope regarding agriculture.

There are lots of queries about anything regarding Organic Gardening/Farming coming from the readers.

This only shows that most people are now awakened and became aware on the importance of natural farming, since synthetic ways of propagating vegetables and other aspects of agriculture only bring harm to one's health.

With so much resources to share with online, I became engrossed with sharing as many as important factors in Organic Farming as much as possible, thereby captivating online readers  as source of their initiative to start a hands-on in Natural Farming method, the Permaculture or permanent agriculture, hydroponics, and a lot more.

Starting in their backyards, family efforts really took part in order to prosper when it comes to farming.

Inspired by you positive feedback, I will continue sharing  aspects on Organic Farming that we can all apply not only in backyard gardening but also to the rest of the communities we belong.

Let us promote and practice Organic Farming!

I published a Facebook Page about Organic Farming in the Philippines this year.

It received an overwhelming response by drawing more LIKEs due to the clamor of going back to basics in farming.

Farming is not just planting rice. It involves all aspects in AGRICULTURE.

At the FB site, more than 2,000 followers have taken their interest to go ORGANIC.

It's not as simple as what I will say.

I did it myself, so, I can proudly say that the benefits of ORGANIC FARMING influences my happy disposition in life nowadays.

I have reaped the rewards of my efforts.

The following photos are just the mementos of the succulent, sweet and tasty SUCCESS of embracing what's good for our MOTHER NATURE.

We must act to heal our planet by taking care and pledging to be vigilant stewards of all GOD's creations.

This is the barrio (countryside) where I live...Baliuag Nuevo, MInalabac, Camarines Sur, BICOL PHILIPPINES.

Gabi (Taro) varieties abound in my country. Here in Bicol, we are fond of cooking our most-talked about LAING delicacies (Bicol Express and the fusion of it).

SIGARILYAS also abound in our place. If eaten fresh, it can cure a lot of health problems in our bodies.

BUNGKUKAN, a variety of taro plant used to add  body and taste to local dishes, like NILAGA, IGADO and more.

The SUMMER of 2015 gave us a lot of INDIAN MANGOES to harvest for. Thank you, Lord.

INISKO, a crossbreed between LATUNDAN and SABA varieties of banana.

Oh, my TOMATOES! I used to eat it fresh from its stalk with a little dash of salt.
